Valladolid, Yucatan Events October 2026: Vendimia Maya & Free Ximena Sariñana Concert

October is shaping up to be one of the better months to spend a night or two in Valladolid, especially if you like food, wine, live music and the slower evening version of the city that most day-trippers miss.

Two October dates stand out right now: the La Vid y La Ceiba Vendimia Maya festival on October 10 and a free Ximena Sariñana concert on October 31 at the Ex-Convento de San Bernardino de Siena.

There is also a Hanal Pixan angle at the end of the month. The traditional Yucatecan season runs into October 31, November 1 and November 2, although I am not going to publish a detailed Valladolid 2026 municipal program until those local schedules are confirmed.

October 9: Valladolid restaurant pairings

La Vid y La Ceiba begins before the main festival day.

Organizers have announced restaurant pairings for Friday, October 9, involving Valladolid restaurants and Mexican wineries. Reporting around the event says 15 restaurants and 15 wineries are participating, with wines coming from regions including Valle de Guadalupe, Aguascalientes and Guanajuato.

For travelers, this may actually be one of the most useful parts of the weekend because it gives you a reason to arrive in Valladolid on Friday instead of treating the festival as a rushed Saturday day trip.

October 10: La Vid y La Ceiba — Vendimia Maya

The main event is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Selva Maya, on the Valladolid–Merida road at Km 3.5.

The festival brings together Mexican wine, Yucatecan food, music, cultural programming and the Selva Maya setting. The organizers describe it as a _Vendimia Maya_, pairing wine culture with Maya and Yucatecan traditions.

General admission is currently listed at MX5 through TusBoletos. Children age 3 and older require a ticket according to the current ticket listing.

Should you stay overnight?

I would.

Selva Maya is outside the historic center, the event runs into the evening, and this is a wine-focused festival. A hotel in Valladolid plus taxi transportation makes much more sense than planning a late drive back to Cancun.

It also gives you Friday night for the restaurant pairings and Sunday morning for breakfast or a cenote.

October 31: free Ximena Sariñana concert

Ximena Sariñana is scheduled to perform Saturday, October 31 at 8:00 PM in the atrium of the Ex-Convento de San Bernardino de Siena.

Admission is free.

The concert is part of the national Festival Circuit for Peace and is being presented in coordination with Yucatan cultural authorities. Yucatecan singer Kafi is scheduled to open the show.

This is exactly the kind of event that changes the feel of Valladolid for a night. San Bernardino is already one of the city’s most atmospheric landmarks, and an outdoor concert there should bring a much more local evening crowd than the normal daytime sightseeing traffic.

What time should you arrive?

The published start time is 8:00 PM. Because this is a free outdoor event at a major landmark, I would not plan to walk up at 7:55 and expect the easiest experience.

Give yourself time to eat early, walk the Calzada de los Frailes and get to San Bernardino before the crowd builds.

Hanal Pixan: what travelers should know

October 31 also falls at the beginning of the main Hanal Pixan period in Yucatan.

Hanal Pixan is the Yucatecan Maya tradition associated with remembering the dead, family altars, food offerings and community observances around the end of October and beginning of November.

Valladolid has hosted Hanal Pixan activities in previous years, but public schedules, locations and times can change. I will update this article when reliable 2026 Valladolid programming is published rather than copy an old schedule forward.

If you are visiting around October 30 through November 2, expect the possibility of additional cultural activity and plan for a busier-than-normal weekend.

One detail Cancun travelers should not forget

Valladolid is in Yucatan, while Cancun is in Quintana Roo.

Valladolid is normally one hour behind Cancun.

That matters for both October events. A 2:00 PM festival start in Valladolid is 3:00 PM on a Cancun clock, and an 8:00 PM Valladolid concert corresponds to 9:00 PM in Cancun.

Phones usually adjust automatically, but not every itinerary, screenshot or reservation reminder does.

How I would plan the two big October weekends

For La Vid y La Ceiba

Arrive Friday afternoon, check in, do one of the restaurant pairings Friday night, spend Saturday morning in Valladolid, then taxi to Selva Maya for the festival.

Stay Saturday night and leave Sunday after breakfast or an early cenote.

For October 31

Arrive by midday, walk the center and Calzada de los Frailes, have an early dinner, then head toward San Bernardino before the concert crowd gets heavy.

If Hanal Pixan public events are announced for the same weekend, you may end up with one of the most interesting Valladolid weekends of the year.

Getting to Valladolid

If you are coming from Cancun, you can drive, take ADO or build Valladolid into a longer Yucatan route.

Bottom line

If you were already considering Valladolid in October 2026, October 9–10 and October 31 are the dates I would watch first.

The wine festival gives travelers a food-and-wine reason to stay overnight earlier in the month, while the free Ximena Sariñana concert puts a major live event at one of Valladolid’s best-known landmarks at the end of the month.
